People who consumed foods high in anthocyanins seemed to have had significantly lower insulin resistance, a key marker of type-2 diabetes. says a report from University of East Anglia.
It is noted that flavonoids are a type of antioxidant, which are compounds that have been shown to counteract oxidative damage. In that study the researchers focus on a subgroup of flavonoids called anthocyanins, which also have several health benefits.
Was also found that those who consumed anthocyanins were less likely to suffer from chronic inflammation, which can be associated with diabetes, heart disease, and cancers.
It is believed that the following foods are high in anthocyanins:
· Berries (darker and riper the better)
· Fruits that grow on trees (grapefruits, oranges)
· Black and kidney beans
· Tea, red wine (1 glass per day)
If you are struggling to fight off type-2 diabetes, you might want to consider adding foods high in anthocyanins.
Good health to you.
