JAPAN —A recent study conducted in Japan found that consuming fish could help reduce the risk of heart attack.
The study analyzed more than 40,000 participants over 11 years. The researchers compared how much and how often the participants consumed fish to their risk of heart attack.
The team found that the risk of heart attack dropped 30 percent for those who ate about 2 ounces (600mg) of fish daily, it dropped 40 percent for those who consumed 3-4 ounces (1100mg) of fish per day, and finally the risk of heart attack was reduced by 65 percent for those who ate 6.3 ounces (2100mg) of fish each day.
They noted that the main benefit is from the omega-3 fatty acids in fish, which have been proven to reduce heart disease, as well as arthritis and Alzheimer’s disease.
If you are interested in reducing your risk of heart attack, you might want to consider adding fish to your daily diet.
Have a great day.
