Healthy DIET Improve Brain Health

MINNESOTA—A recent study conducted at the American Academy of Neurology and published in the journal Neurology found that eating healthy is associated with stronger brain health and function.
The study included 27,860 participants over the age of 55. The researchers analyzed their thinking and memory skills at the beginning of the study, then 2 years and 5 years later. The participants were also asked to complete questionnaires at the same time, which went over their diet and how often they consumed certain foods.
The team found that cognitive decline was lowest among those who followed a healthy diet. In addition, the researchers found that those who regularly consumed unhealthy foods saw an 18 percent decline in their memory and thinking abilities.
The researchers noted that a healthy diet linked with improved brain function includes: fruits, vegetables, nuts, fish, and small amounts of red meat.
According to study author, Dr. Andrew Smyth:
"In conclusion, we report that higher diet quality is associated with a reduced risk of cognitive decline. Improved diet quality represents an important potential target for reducing the global burden of cognitive decline."
If you are interested in preventing brain decline or improving your cognitive function, you might want to consider following a healthy diet.

Have a great day.
