OREGON—A recent study conducted at Oregon State University at presented in Medical News Today found that drinking red grape juice or wine could help improve your health.
The study analyzed a group of mice, it is noted that their bodily functions are very similar to humans. The mice were split up into 2 groups; one group consumed a normal diet, while the other group was given grape extracts (equivalent to a half cup of grapes per day). The researchers analyzed the mice for 10 weeks.
The team found that the mice that consumed the grapes had less fat in their liver, significantly lower blood sugar, and a boosted metabolism. In addition, they found that a chemical found in grapes (ellagic acid) helps slow the growth of fat cells and formation of new ones, which could help burn fat and stay fit.
It is noted that these benefits can be seen by eating/drinking dark colored grapes, or consuming red wine in moderation (1 glass per day).
If you are interested in improving your health, you might want to consider adding red grapes to your daily diet.
Have a great day.
