Be Patient Trying To Lose Weight

We are  almost at the end of February and for those of you who may feel stuck with your New Year's resolution to lose weight.  As you're likely noticing, however, it might be harder to shed the pounds that seemed to melt away so fast at the beginning. Furthermore, the idea may be setting in that you're about to put all the weight back on. After all, that's what happens to the majority of dieters.

But what really works?  Even when you are following the rules. You're making smart decisions and there should be no reason why your progress is slowing down, right? There tend to be over-load of information about nutrition available that most people believe they know how to eat healthy. But what's so interesting is how often things change.

The fact is that doctors, nutritionists and researchers might not really know as much as the public at large may think.  After all, obesity and type 2 diabetes rates continue to climb at an outrageous percentage rate yearly.

Maybe about 15 years or so ago, everybody was basically saying "cut the fat! It will kill you!"  But now, there's an overwhelming amount of evidence that fats are indeed very healthy to in jest, you just have to eat certain kinds of fat. The good fats are specified and the bad ones have been identified,  so it's quite evident  that during those times,  nobody really knew what they were talking about.

However, in recent years it's been realised that fats aren't nearly the problem. On the other hand, sugar is still a bad choice.  Seems to me that  most of the conditions that were blamed on fat have now shifted to sugar, hence, nothing negative so far about a little honey.

Realistically, It's definitely very difficult to test the true effectiveness of a given diet on humans. For the most part, there isn't enough time or resources to conduct randomized controlled, long term trials.

Trying  to convince people to eat a certain way for their entire lives to test these theories isn't feasible and  would be like asking for the impossible.  In fact, to my understanding, an organisation  would have to be willing to fund  such study.  Therefore, at that magnitude , almost impossible to find.

Stay tuned for part (2)

Have a great day.
